  • Executive Assistant to the President
    William Peace University, a vibrant and diverse independent institution in Raleigh, NC, seeks applicants for a full-time, exempt-level Executive Assistant to the President with an anticipated start date of early May 2017.  The Executive Assistant to the President is a critically important role, enabling the President to work most effectively with internal and external stakeholders.  This position serves as a member of the Senior Leadership Team (Vice President for Academic Affairs, Vice President for Administration/CFO, Vice President for Advancement, Vice President for Enrollment Management and Marketing, Vice President for Student Life) and requires a combination of focus and flexibility. As this position will perform duties of a sensitive and confidential nature; discretion and discernment are key to being successful in this role.  WPU is under the leadership of Dr. Brian C. Ralph, who assumed office in August, 2015.  The institution is in a season of exciting change and is currently undertaking a comprehensive strategic planning process.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include:

    1. Presidential support – Manages President’s overall calendar, schedules appointments, and meeting rooms. Handles multiple forms of communications including drafting correspondence, speeches and presentations. Handles President’s travel and accommodation arrangements.  Opens, sorts, and screens mail, answers and screens telephone calls, relays messages, and greets visitors.  Acts as point of contact for external groups.  Works closely with the Office of Advancement regarding external relations and philanthropic outreach.  Assists President in work with student and employee engagement as well as issue resolution and problem solving.
    2. Strategic engagement and follow-up – Works closely with the President on monitoring the implementation of key initiatives. Independent leadership of special President-initiated projects is also a possibility.  The ideal candidate will proactively identify issues that could impact the successful execution of the President’s commitments.
    3. Board management – Serves as key contact for all Boards. Facilitates communications, meeting agenda, mailings and packet preparation for all Board of Trustee and Foundation Board meetings and business.   Serves as Recording Secretary for all Executive Committee, Board of Trustees, and Foundation Board meetings; prepares minutes for distribution and approval at next meeting.  Manages Board meeting calendar and makes arrangements for all meeting rooms, catering, and logistics for Board related sessions. Maintains all Board listings and prepares Trustee Handbook for new trustee orientation. Maintains website for all meeting documentation, posting final agenda materials for Board meetings.
    4. Senior Leadership Team (SLT) – Works closely with other members of the SLT including creation of agenda for weekly meetings, problem solving issues, providing minutes for regular SLT meetings, and participates in the development of university policies, procedures and priorities. Supports the needs of the leadership staff in their ability to raise critical issues with the President and receive needed responses, guidance and decisions.
    5. Office management – Maintains all office records and is responsible for managing the budget of the Office of the President. Maintains vacation records for those reporting to the President.  Operates and maintains office equipment such as copier, printer, and fax machine.  Completes all purchase requisitions and work orders for administrative needs in the President’s Office.  Tracks President’s travel receipts and reconciles President’s William Peace University credit card monthly, and reports quarterly expenses to Board Chair for approval.  Maintains all supplies for the President’s Office.

    The minimum qualifications for this position are:

    • Bachelor’s degree
    • 5 years of increasingly responsible and relevant experience

  • Public Safety Officer

    Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the individual serving in this position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties as Head Coach for the Men’s Soccer team:

    • Provides leadership and supervision in all aspects of the Men’s Soccer program including, recruitment, retention, academic support, practice preparation, game strategy, alumni development, fundraising, and community service
    • Recruits student athletes who meet the University’s admissions requirements. Meets annual recruitment goals as developed annually by the Director of Athletics and Director of Admission , including the evaluation, contact, and establishing relationships with prospective student-athletes and coaches
    • Coordinates and outlines a complete recruiting yearly plan to identify quality student athletes
    • Mandatory attendance at all Admission open houses and scheduled orientations
    • Ensures compliance with all University, USA South Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations related to recruiting and academic monitoring for student athletes
    • Collaborates with the Sports Information Director for the positive promotion of the Men’s Soccer program. Areas included should be individual and team statistics, media guides, reports to NCAA, USA South Conference, individual accolades on and off the field and website updates
    • Ensures Department and University regulations are understood by and complied with by student athletes and coaching staff
    • Works closely with the Athletic Department and Advancement office in any fundraising activities that will directly impact the Men’s Soccer program or the Department of Athletics in general
    • Represents the University at athletics meetings pertaining to men’s soccer; including USA South Conference meetings and coaches convention
    • Coordinates a minimum of two (2) community outreach projects for the promotion of William Peace University athletics
    • Develops an annual operating budget and oversee the purchasing distribution and collection of all equipment
    • Displays a commitment to the principles of sportsmanship and ethical conduct as per the NCAA and USA South Conference
    • Performs planning, organization and execution for on the field coaching duties as described and direct all practice sessions and competitions.

    • Build quality relationships and work collaboratively and professionally with athletics, Pacer Club and University staff, students, and all constituencies and stakeholders.
    • Be available to make appearances, perform media interviews, speaking engagements and support WPU Pacer Club activities representing the program and WPU athletics.

  • Accounts Payable Accountant

  • Assistant Director of Student Involvement
    William Peace University, a vibrant and diverse independent institution in Raleigh, NC, seeks applicants for a full-time, exempt Assistant Director of Student Involvement in the Office of Student Involvement.  The Assistant Director of Student Involvement is a member of the WPU Student Involvement team. The mission of WPU’s Student Involvement is to foster an engaging, inspiring and a safe campus community that empowers students as leaders, promotes ethical citizenship, facilitates meaningful activities and cultivates an appreciation of lifelong learning. This person is responsible for strategic program planning, marketing, execution, assessment, and student growth & development to engage students out of the classroom. Additionally, the Assistant Director of Student Involvement is responsible for advising and supervising the student led, Campus Activities Board (CAB) which is responsible for planning, coordinating and executing quality social, cultural, and educational programming.  Work schedule will vary as determined by programming and activity needs. Evening and weekend hours will be needed to meet the functions of the role.  This staff member will also have the opportunity to serve on several University committees (as assigned).

    • Lead and organize various student travel and recreational activities (35%)

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: recruiting the first Women’s Lacrosse team in school history; training, scheduling, troubleshooting, evaluating and completing payroll for the University’s strength and conditioning center student and other staff; assisting with developing, adjusting and enforcing policies and procedures; equipment inventory and maintenance, including health and safety checks.  The Women’s Head Lacrosse Coach/Strength and Conditioning Coach will also be expected to assist with fitness programming for the University community; and to assist staff with the 16 NCAA Intercollegiate sports strength and conditioning programming. This position will require varied hours. Night and weekend hours will be required at various times throughout the year.   WPU is under the new leadership of Dr. Brian C.     1. Provide and implement yearly plans for recruiting, hiring, training, managing, and evaluating student-athletes for the Women’s Lacrosse team and exercise interns for the Strength and Conditioning Center
    • Recruit and coach the Women’s Lacrosse team

    • Assist with operating and developing the systems, policies, and procedures directly related to strength and conditioning center operations

    • Prepare and teach assigned related physical fitness/activity classes for the University community

    • Certification in strength training through a nationally recognized certification program
    • Previous experience in intercollegiate strength and conditioning programs
    • CPR/First Aid/AED Certified

    • Counsel students and alumni on career issues; administers and interprets career and personality assessments. Assists students to understand their abilities, talents, interests, and personality characteristics in order to develop realistic academic and career options.
    • Plans, schedules and delivers presentations on career development and job search skills (resume writing, interviewing, networking, etc.) in group and/or classroom settings.
    • Coordinates the internship program. Prepare students for internship search, promote and advertise internship program to employers, develop new internship sites relevant to student’s major, skill and geographic interests. Assist with the evaluation of the college-wide required internship program.
    • Assists the Director with employer development. Provides outreach to employers and community representatives to connect students and alumni with potential employers and develops partnerships with employers.
    • Coordinates and participates in career fairs, on campus recruiting and similar activities to facilitate the job placement of students.
    • Compiles, studies and reports occupational, educational, and economic information to aid students in implementing career and educational goals and making informed career decisions
    • Oversees materials in career resource library; make recommendations for purchase of books, software, and other relevant publications.
    • Provides career development information and presentations to alumni, college boards, parents and faculty when requested.
    • Assist with the management and the updating of a web based Internship and Job Search database system.
    • Assist with updating the Career Services web site content for prospective students, current students, alumni, employers and parents.
    • Represents the college at community and/or business meetings to promote existing and new programs and job/internship opportunities for students.
    • Works with faculty to promote career development models, activities and workshops integrated in courses where and when appropriate.
