  • Public Safety Officer (Part-Time)
    William Peace University, located in Raleigh, North Carolina, seeks applicants for a part-time Public Safety Officer, working 16 hours per week.  Reporting to the Director and the Assistant Director of Public Safety, this position provides public safety services to the University community.  Duties include but are not limited to enforcement of University’s rules and policies; responsibility for preventing and suppressing crime, protecting life and property; patrolling assigned areas on foot to ensure personal, building, and equipment is secure; maintenance of patrol logs, recording of occurrences, and completing necessary paperwork; informing and warning violator of rule infractions such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles; and working with local law enforcement agencies.  Duties also may require use of computers to input and retrieve data.  The officer is expected to comply with the University’s and the Department’s rules, regulations, and policies; perform his/her duties independently, utilize proper judgment, and maintain a high degree of professionalism. There are possible opportunities to pick up extra shifts when other scheduled permanent officers are not able to work due to being sick or on vacation. This position is non-exempt, and the selected candidate must be able to satisfactorily clear a complete background check.  This position will work from 3:00PM to 11:00PM on Saturdays and Sundays, including working holidays.

    The minimum qualifications for this position are:

    High school diploma or equivalent

    • Minimum three years of experience in public safety

  • Advancement Services Specialist
    William Peace University, a vibrant and diverse independent institution in Raleigh, NC, is seeking applicants for a full-time Advancement Services Specialist. This position is an essential member of the University Advancement team, and is responsible for database management, advancement reporting, prospect management, gift processing, data integrity and data security in support of WPU’s overall mission. The Advancement Services Specialist develops and implements data and gift-entry procedures, produces reports and mailing lists for departmental and university-wide use; and contributes to the execution of advancement strategies. The Advancement Services Specialist reports to the Vice President, University Advancement. WPU is under the leadership of Dr. Brian C. Ralph, who assumed office in August 2015.  The institution is in a season of exciting change and is currently undertaking a comprehensive strategic planning process.

    Essential Duties:

    • Support WPU and University Advancement strategies in all activities and assist the VP of University Advancement to plan, organize, and implement annual departmental goals and objectives.
    • Manage the overall donor/alumni database, currently Raiser’s Edge (RE), including data entry/management, gift processing, prospect research, data output/reporting and training to continually improve the quality of alumni and donor data.
    • Develop procedures to ensure the integrity and security of database information.
    • Conduct prospect research and analytical report generation along with implementation of the donor prospect management process including identification, tracking, and acknowledgement.
    • Manage data and gift-entry for records so that the processing, tracking, reporting and acknowledgement of donations are performed in accurate and timely fashion; ensure that the data derived from these activities is accurate, up-to-date and accessible.
    • Input new or updated information into the database as needed.
    • Ensure data accuracy; Coordinate with IT on the reconciliation of RE and Colleague Data.
    • Identify, develop, implement and maintain database policies and procedures related to all fundraising activities to ensure compliance and best practices.
    • Produce targeted mailing lists for communications, solicitations, invitations, etc., for University Advancement staff.
    • Facilitate prospect research and analytical report generation along with implementation of the donor prospect management process including identification, tracking, and processes.
    • Work with Advancement colleagues to support overall donor stewardship plan.
    • Extract information from alumni/fund-raising database to meet reporting and research needs of the Vice President for University Advancement and other Advancement staff; produce alumni and donor activity reports; answer surveys; manage subscriptions.
    • Ensure WPU has efficient, effective tracking systems to support prospect cultivation and solicitations.
    • Provide full services support for comprehensive campaign including tracking next steps, pledge commitments, solicitation strategy management and reporting.
    • Search for lost alumni. Investigate financial/biographical status of individuals, corporations and foundations.
    • Interface with finance department and accounting staff regarding gift entry, gift posting, fund creation, gift restrictions and audit reporting.
    • Build and maintain positive working relationships with team members, internal customers, and external vendors.
    • Assist in Advancement events as needed.
    • Identify risks to the organization within the department and discuss risk reduction options.
    • Contribute to the overall success of the University Advancement Office by working on special projects and performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Vice President for University Advancement.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with a broad range of internal and external constituents including faculty, staff, students, alumni, parents, and friends of the University.
    • Demonstrate diplomatic, professional, courteous and perceptive interpersonal skills; display discretion in dealing with sensitive, confidential issues.
    • Outstanding planning and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task as well as work independently and collaboratively, managing multiple projects on deadline.
    • Highly organized, self-starter with good interpersonal, problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Ability to anticipate needs, see opportunities and use good judgment in dealing with confidential information.
    • Ability to analyze and review operational procedures, identify problem areas and optimize performance through procedural changes.
    • Knowledge of gift recording techniques and an understanding of regulations and guidelines governing fundraising, gift processing and gift accounting.
    • Support and understand the development process: identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.
    • Ability to travel and work a flexible schedule as weekend and evening work is required.

    The minimum qualifications for this position are:

    • Bachelor’s degree required in related field.
    • Minimum three (3) years of relevant experience and/or training development services function and knowledge of charitable giving.
    • Advanced experience in using development software, preferably Raiser’s Edge with work at the strategic systems level.
    • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
    • Well-organized with extreme attention to detail.
    • Understanding of database management, gift processing and donor relations.
    • Knowledge of fundraising principles and practice.

    The preferred but not required qualifications for this position are: 

    • Intermediate or advanced experience in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point); publishing software (Adobe suite) is a plus.
    • Advanced experience in Raiser’s Edge preferred, will consider similar CRM (alumni) database maintenance and reporting experience.
