Meet the Staff

Barbara M. Efird
Director of Career Services

noneBarbara has been with WPU Career Services since 1996. She is a North Carolina Licensed Professional Counselor, National Certified Counselor and National Certified Career Counselor. She earned her undergraduate degree in Business Management from Canisius College in Buffalo, NY, and her graduate degree from North Carolina State University.

Efird is qualified to administer and interpret a variety of career assessments including the Myers Briggs Type Indicator, Campbell Interest and Skills Inventory, Strong Interest Inventory and the Emotional Quotient Inventory. She is a member of various organizations such as, the National Career Development Association, NC Career Development Association, National Association of Colleges and Employers, NC Association of Colleges and Employers, Society of Human Resources Management Association and the Raleigh Wake Human Resources Management Association.

Efird was the recipient of the 2004-2005 Roy Anderson Award presented by the NC Career Development Association for outstanding leadership and service to the profession of career development.

Kathleen A. Monroe
Assistant Director of Career Servicesnone

Kathleen joined WPU Career Services in 2011. She received her Bachelor of Science in Business with a concentration in Marketing from Indiana University, Fort Wayne campus. Additionally, she holds a graduate degree in Student Personnel Administration in Higher Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Monroe is a Global Career Development Facilitator and is qualified to administer and interpret the Emotional Quotient Inventory. Additionally, she is a member of the NC Association of Colleges and Employers and serves as the New Members Chair on the planning committee for its conferences. She is also a member of the Triangle Society for Human Resources Management Association.
