Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness

The Office of Institutional Effectiveness at William Peace University manages the system of ongoing, integrated and institutional-wide research-based planning and assessment.

The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) defines Institutional Effectiveness as follows:

The institution identifies expected outcomes for its educational program and its Administrative and educational support services; assesses whether it achieves these Outcomes; and provides evidence of improvement based on the analysis of those results. (Comprehensive Standard 3.3.1, Principles of Accreditation, SACS Commission on Colleges, 2004).

The process of Institutional Effectiveness is one of an institution demonstrating how well it succeeds in accomplishing its mission and meeting its goals. The process allows each college/university to choose its expected outcomes based on its self-identified mission. The faculty and administrators develop mission statements for each academic program and administrative unit that are derived from the William Peace University mission statement. They then define the program and learning outcomes they believe are most appropriate and report these in an annual IE assessment cycle. These outcomes are assessed to determine the extent to which they were achieved in the planning year. Finally, the assessment results are used as the basis for making changes for continuous improvements in the academic and administrative programs.
