WPU is one of the only institutions in North Carolina to offer Pre-Law as a major, designed for students wishing to attend law school, culminating in The Raleigh Experience – an advantage no other school can offer.
Located just blocks from state and local courts and the North Carolina General Assembly, William Peace University Pre-Law students learn the legal system by working in it every day. Imagine leaving your dorm, grabbing a coffee on campus and walking to the state legislature to conduct policy research. That’s the kind of immersive experience you can expect in your final year as a pre-law major, working for sponsoring organizations in rotations that can include: advocacy/lobbying, governance, law, non-profit administration, politics, policy research, and public administration. One session you might be helping legislators draft bills in the General Assembly; the next, you could assist an attorney with research in preparation for trial. In addition, our interdisciplinary curriculum will provide a strong foundation in the subject matter while developing the critical thinking, analytical writing and public speaking abilities that law schools and employers require.
