Alumni Awards

William Peace University bestows three alumni awards on an annual basis during Homecoming & Family Weekend.  They include:

• The Distinguished Alumni Award
• The Distinguished Service Award
• The Young Alumni Award

The Distinguished Alumni Award is bestowed upon a deserving alum during Homecoming & Family Weekend (reunions). Established in 1960, this award is given to an alumni, age 35 years or older, and recognizes individuals for accomplishments in career, community and family. Service may also be included (but is not limited to) service to Peace. To nominate a candidate for the Distinguised Alumni Award, complete the nomination form here.

The Distinguished Service Award is bestowed upon a deserving alumni who has willingly and devotedly served Peace. First awarded in 1991, this award is presented during Homecoming & Family Weekend (reunions). To nominate a candidate, complete the nomination form here.

The Young Alumni Award was established in 1989 to honor those alumni under the age of 35 who have achieved distinction in their community, professional and/or personal life. This award is also presented annually during Homecoming & Family Weekend, at chapter reunions or at special events. To nominate a candidate, complete the nomination form here.

The Distinguished Alumni Award

Peace first recognized outstanding alumni with the Distinguished Alumni Award in 1960.  Each Distinguished Alum was presented an orchid, and nine years later the institution began the presentation of a replica of the Peace Institute pin, created from an original pin which belonged to Mattie McNair Patterson, class of 1888 and mother of Mary McNair Patterson Johnson, class of 1928.
