Peace teams victorious in ‘HR Games’ competition
For the fourth-straight year, a Peace College team has won the state championship in the “HR Games,” a competition sponsored by the Society for Human Resource Management. Peace’s White Team – made up of Lauren Rouse, Bianca Boles and Melissa Meek – defeated a team from UNC-Wilmington on Saturday to take the title. For the first time, Peace had four teams in the competition. Two Peace teams – the White Team and the Green Team – had to face each other in the semifinals. The competition included 18 teams from seven colleges and universities. Peace now goes on to compete in the Southeastern regional competition April 9-11 in Knoxville, Tenn.
 

 

Student Kim Zullo wins second place in research competition
Student Kim Zullo won second place in the microbiology section of the
Collegiate Academy of the North Carolina Academy of Sciences competition on Saturday at Guilford College. Zullo, from Greenville, N.C., is a senior. She also led Peace’s cross country team this year, being named to the USA South’s all-conference first team. It was the first time Peace has had a cross country runner receive that honor. 

 

Admissions ‘Tour of Homes’ bringing prospective students to campus today
The Peace College Admissions Office is holding a “Tour of Homes” event today in which prospective students will tour residence halls and vote on the best-decorated rooms. The event will being accepted students to campus so that they can see what living on campus is all about and why our students love to live, study and play on campus. The event begins at 4 p.m. in Main Parlor. Please help welcome our guests as you meet them. 

 

Urge students to learn today about study-abroad in Korea, Mexico
The International Studies office will host a study abroad information table today in Belk foyer to promote the Peace summer programs: Hannam University, South Korea and Mexico Summer Study Abroad. The info table will be open for business today from noon until 2 p.m. The trip to Hannam University is scheduled to take place June 21 to July 9. The Mexico trip will be July 10 to Aug. 1. See Lyle Sheppard in the International Studies Office for information. 

 

Sign up for blood drive on Tuesday
Peace College is hosting a blood drive on Tuesday. Please donate blood, as each donation can be used to help save three lives! The drive will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. next to the softball field. Please sign up as a donor ahead of time at www.mysignup.com/peacecollege
 

 

Admissions Open House on Thursday
The Admissions Office will also host an Open House for prospective students on Thursday. The event will include tours of campus, an overview of the admissions and financial aid process, student and parent panels, a classroom experience and lunch on Main Lawn. The event begins at 10 a.m. and runs until 3 p.m. Please be aware that we have reserved parking spaces in the Main Lot for our guests. Pease plan to park on Delway Street or in Peace Beach. And, please help join in making our guests fell welcome!  

 

Watch for ‘Great Places to Work’ survey
You may remember the Chronicle of Higher Education's "Great Colleges to Work For" survey from the spring of 2008. That time has rolled around again. If you receive an email from the company Modern Think, please complete the online survey. It should not take more than 10 minutes. Not all employees will receive an invitation and link to the Modern Think website, but if you do, please take the time to respond.

 

Faculty, staff invited to Alumnae Weekend
All Faculty and Staff are invited to join in the fun at this years’ Alumnae Weekend scheduled for May 14 – 16. This is a great way to reconnect with some of your former students and to catch up with our alumnae.  There is no cost for you to attend, however, standard guest fees will apply. If you are planning to attend, please RSVP with Carol Grossi (cgrossi@peace.edu) at 508-2025.
