David Frazier of Knoxville Named President Emeritus at Peace College

RALEIGH, N.C. (May 19, 2010) - David Frazier, who led Peace College in Raleigh, N.C., as its president for 23 years, has been honored by the college's Board of Trustees by being named president emeritus.

Frazier, who lives in Knoxville, Tenn., with his wife, Jean, was recognized during Peace's alumnae weekend festivities on Saturday.

Frazier led Peace College from 1965-1988, helping guide its largest construction programs, which doubled the size of the campus with seven new buildings. He launched Peace's honors, independent study and internship programs and established endowments to support the library, faculty development, merit and work scholarships, visiting scholars, and a concert and lecture series.

Frazier was also known at Peace for being an avid support of the college's athletics programs. During his tenure, Peace athletics enjoyed having nationally ranked teams in tennis and basketball. In 1977, Peace's basketball team finished the season ranked No. 2 nationally, the highest for any team in college history, and finished as runner-up in the National Junior College tournament.
