Emily Fortune Feimster Receives Peace College's 2010 Young Alumna Award

Emily Fortune Feimster, a Belmont, N.C., native who is working as a comedian in California, has received Peace College's 2010 Young Alumna Award.

 

Feimster is a member of the Sunday Company of the Groundlings Theatre comedy troupe in Los Angeles. She is a regular performer at the Comedy Store, also in Los Angeles. She'll appear in June as a contestant in NBC's "Last Comic Standing."

 

Feimster, who received her bachelor of arts degree from Peace in 2002, is also the co-founder of three sketch and improvisational comedy troupes - Gas Money, Honorable Discharge and Robert Downey Jr. Jr. - which perform all over the United States.

 

Peace's Young Alumna Award is given annually to recognize the accomplishments an alumna of the college who is under the age of 35.

 

Feimster received the award on Saturday during the college's alumnae weekend festivities. As part of the weekend's events Feimster performed a one-woman show, led an improve comedy workshop and gave a roast of outgoing President Laura Carpenter Bingham.
