Staff Openings 

Public Safety Officer

William Peace University, located in Raleigh, North Carolina, is seeking three temporary Public Safety Officers to only be used intermittently (only on call) when regular employees are absent.  Hours could potentially range from 4 to 40 hours when the need arises.  Reporting to the Director of Public Safety, this position provides public safety services to the University community. The Public Safety officer is responsible for preventing and suppressing crime, protecting life and property, patrolling assigned area on foot to ensure personal, building, and equipment security, maintaining logs, recording of occurrences, completing necessary paperwork and may use computers to input and retrieve data, informing and warning violator of rule infarctions such as loitering, smoking, or carrying bidden articles, and working with local law enforcement agencies. The officer is expected to conform with the Department's rules, regulations, and policies, perform his/her duties independently, utilize proper judgment, and maintain a high degree of professionalism

 

The minimum qualifications for this position are:

  • Minimum 3 years experience in public safety
  • Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and customer service orientation
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to deal politely and courteously with a diverse campus population in a professional manner
  • High school diploma or GED
  • A valid North Carolina driver's license
  • Pass a criminal background check

Proctor

The School of Professional Studies at William Peace University, located in Raleigh, North Carolina, is seeking a Proctor to staff a new Proctoring Center on campus during the exam periods each semester.  This position is an intermittent temporary position, and is expected to be available for all exam periods each semester.  Individuals hired need to be available to work on weekends and one evening during the week during exam periods, 8 weeks in a given semester, for a total of up to 11 hours in a given week. Proctors will be responsible for opening up classrooms and preparing computers for proctoring, validating student identification, ensuring students meet, understand, and adhere to all exam requirements (open book/open note, closed book/closed note, calculator allowed, etc.).  Proctors will be responsible for monitoring students while they take exam(s) and recording any and all instances of dishonesty or cheating. 

 

The minimum qualifications for this position are:

  • Knowledge of academic integrity guidelines.
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Pass a criminal background check.

 

The preferred but not required qualifications for this position are: 

  • Some graduate work from an accredited institution.
  • Experience working with students in a higher education setting.
  • Experience in a proctoring setting.
  • Experience with a course management system such as Blackboard or Moodle.

Adjunct Faculty for the William Peace School of Professional Studies

The School of Professional Studies at William Peace University, located in Raleigh, North Carolina, is seeking qualified adjunct faculty to teach in our campus based accelerated 7 week program in the following academic areas:

  • Psychology
  • Business
  • Math
  • Music
  • Finance
  • Statistics

 

The minimum qualifications for this position are:

  • A Master or Doctorate degree in the teaching discipline or master's degree with a concentration in the teaching discipline (minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline)
  • Related work experiences in the field, professional licensure and certifications, honors and awards, continuous documented excellence in teaching, or other demonstrated competencies and achievements that contribute to effective teaching and student learning outcomes may be used to supplement academic credentials if warranted.
  • Two years of experience teaching college level courses.
  • Established record of teaching excellence and demonstrated leadership experience.
  • A minimum of two years of work experience required.

 

The preferred but not required qualifications for this position are: 

  • One year of experience teaching at an accelerated degree-completion program preferred.
