Director of Development

Position Title: Director of Development

Department: Development & Alumnae Affairs Office

Reports To: President of the College and the VP for Development & Alumnae Affairs

Status: Full-time, 12-month position

 

The role of the Director of Development is integral to the growth of Peace College, to the Development Department's philanthropic infrastructure, and to the success of the Promise of Peace $30 Million Capital Campaign. The Director of Development's primary responsibility is to assume internal leadership for the Department's fundraising activities, with an emphasis placed on the Promise of Peace capital campaign. This includes but is not limited to the planning and solicitation of leadership, major, special, and endowment gifts from alumnae, friends, foundations, corporations and individuals in order to support Peace College's $30 Million Capital Campaign under the direction of the College President and the Vice President for DAA.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serves as an integral member of the senior development team, promoting healthy communication between other management areas and advising the Vice President for DAA and/or College President as necessary
  • Collaborates with external campaign and fundraising consultants, the Vice President for DAA, the College President and other senior staff in planning, administering and implementing all fundraising activities with an emphasis placed on leadership giving
  • Serves as leader of the major gifts Development team responsible for identifying, cultivating, managing, soliciting and stewarding high-level (major) donors for gift support to the Promise of Peace Campaign
  • Serves as the lead contact for the Board of Visitors and the Parent's Council
  • Reports updates on a bi-monthly basis to the Director of Operations the pending proposals log, the All Boards Committee tally, the Trustee Leadership Committee tally, Multi-Year Loyalty Fund pledges, and Non Loyalty Fund pledge reminders
  • Will process monthly Non-Loyalty Fund pledge reminders and campaign pledge reminders
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA/BS Degree and/or equivalent experience with minimum of 5 years in the development field
  • Experience as a Director of Development with proven record of development success
  • Experience in all fundraising fields including Capital Campaigns, Annual Giving, and Planned Giving.
  • Experience working with Board members and key donors
  • Experience in grant and proposal development
  • Intermediate or advanced experience using a PC, and MS Office Suite ( Word, Excel, Power Point); previous experience in development software
  • Excellent written/oral/interpersonal communication skills; strong organizational skills
  • Experience in special event(s) planning and coordinating
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of donor records and research sources
  • Experience traveling extensively to cultivate and steward donors, serving as an ambassador for the institution
  • Ability to travel 50-75% of the time

General Maintenance Technician

 

Position Title: General Maintenance Technician

Reports to: Facilities Supervisor

Department: Facilities

Status: Full-time, 12-month Staff

 

This person will perform all duties that pertain to general maintenance with a focus on plumbing.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs all duties that pertain to general maintenance with focus on plumbing, installs, repairs or replaces faucets, washers, seats, valves, and toilet flushing mechanisms;
  • Operates a hand or power auger to clean sewer lines, sinks, toilets, showers, or other clogged lines;
  • Operates a variety of machines or hand tools, as required in order to complete the assignment;
  • Assists craft persons such as HVAC Technicians and Electricians on specific assignments requiring journeymen level skills;
  • Responsible for the swimming pools and the operation of the pumps for water filtration and chlorination system;
  • Cleans the pools, takes water samples to test for bacteria, and adds chlorine as needed;
  • Performs associated facilities services and preventative maintenance work as required, including, but not limited to: repair doors, hang plaques, pictures, painting; installing weather stripping, and window repair; minor repairing broken furniture and desks, making minor repairs to sheetrock, roofs, stairs, floors;
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent;
  • 3-5 years of general experience, 1-2 years of specialized experience;
  • Ability to maintain regular, predictable attendance and punctuality within College guidelines;
  • Ability to follow instructions and ask appropriate questions whenever needed.

 

PREFERENCES:

Residential campus experience

 

Serves as a critical role position and must work during adverse weather conditions; may be required to work during periods when the College is closed. This is a 7:00am to 3:30pm job but very often requires long or irregular hours, depending upon the needs of special events. The responsibility is to follow through on the implementation of maintenance, and special event setups as directed.

Housekeeper-Floor Technician

 

Position Title: Housekeeper-Floor Technician

Reports to: Housekeeping Supervisor

Department: Facilities

Status: Full-time, 12-month Staff

 

This person will perform all duties that pertain to general housekeeping, clean rooms and halls in College buildings and dormitories.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Strips, waxes and buffs floors
  • Cleans carpet
  • Cleans lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, and stairways
  • Sweeps and mops floors
  • Dusts furniture, washes walls, ceiling, and woodwork
  • Washes windows, door panels, and sills
  • Empties wastebaskets, and empties and cleans ashtrays
  • Transports trash and waste to disposal area
  • Replenishes bathroom supplies
  • Cleans dryer duct work
  • Cleans outside windows
  • Primary back up for grounds crew on weekends, holidays and when grounds crew is absent, assists with event set ups;
  • Serves a critical role, must work during adverse weather conditions, and may be required to work during periods when the College is closed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 6-12 months of environmental services experience
  • Ability to maintain regular, predictable attendance and punctuality within College guidelines
  • Ability to follow instructions and ask appropriate questions whenever needed

Director of Residence Life

 

Position Title: Director of Residence Life

Reports to: Assistant Dean of Students

Department: Student Development

Status: Full-time, 12-month Staff

The Director of Residence Life will be responsible for all facets of the housing and residence life program.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Develops and maintains a comprehensive Resident Assistant recruitment, selection, training and evaluation program;
  • Develops and initiates innovative residential programs;
  • Serves as Advisor to the Residence Hall Association;
  • Supervises, manages, and evaluates professional Resident Directors;
  • Manages room assignments;
  • Works collaboratively with the facilities department to address facilities issues.

 

Qualifications:

  • MA/MS in Student Personnel, Counseling, and/or Higher Education,
  • Three to five years of progressively responsible experience in residence life and housing;
  • Excellent communication, organizational and supervisory skills essential.

Wellness Center Coordinator

Position Title: Wellness Center Service Coordinator

Reports To: Director of Health Services

Department: Wellness Center/ Student Development

Status: Regular full-time 11-month position

 

The Wellness Center Service Coordinator will be responsible for student immunization compliance as well as student health insurance administration. The Coordinator will provide administrative support for Student Health Services, Counseling Center, and Student Disability Resource Center. The Coordinator will also be responsible for coordinating and overseeing Campus Wellness programming as assigned by the Director of Health Services.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor and input data related to student immunization compliance. Contact students "out of compliance" and work with students and registrar to ensure timely compliance.
  • Coordinate Student Health Insurance by acting as liaison with United Healthcare and Peace College. Monitor and input data related to student insurance waivers.
  • Provide initial screening to students who come to Health Services by recording their medical concern and taking their vital signs.
  • Support Wellness Center staff by providing clerical assistance including scheduling appointments for Director of Health Services, College Physician, and College Psychiatrist; pulling student charts; answering the phone and any other tasks assigned.
  • Maintain Health Services by stocking and ordering supplies, sanitizing clinic at the end of each day, overseeing student sick room and student waiting area.
  • Coordinate campus health initiatives and educational campaigns.
  • Serve on various College committees
  • Complete other duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Effective organizational, administrative, and communication skills
  • Ability to work with students, staff and faculty
  • Experience in college health preferred

Assistant to the Registrar

 

Position Title: Assistant to the Registrar

Reports to: Registrar

Department: Academic Affairs

Status: Full-time, 12-month

 

Under the general direction of the Registrar, this person manages an essential registration function and administers the creation and maintenance of permanent/administrative records; assures the integrity, security, condition and access to these documents and supervises the issuance of official documents.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Has principal user responsibility for an interactive academic/administrative database system, including system function, documentation and updating;
  • utilizes the registration system database for data entry, record updating, and transcript processing and serves as a resource to the College community regarding university-wide academic/administrative database;
  • Responsible for issuing official College documents such as transcripts or academic audits, official catalog course descriptions, and for collecting fees charged for these services;
  • Responsible for the design, operation and product quality of a records imaging system, including the efficient interaction of conventional-image and computer output of records archived from the database system;
  • Enforces the requirements of the Family Rights and Privacy Act as it affects release of confidential information contained in student academic records and ancillary files;
  • Coordinates and maintains scheduling of classroom locations;
  • Maintains semester Cooperating Raleigh Colleges registrations;
  • Provides special support during peak activity periods, i.e., graduation, orientation, registration and regular end of semester activities; other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates of Art degree or related;
  • Previous administrative experience;
  • Ability to interact with students, faculty and staff in a professional manner;
  • Ability to follow instructions and as appropriate questions as needed;
  • Ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality;
  • Good computer skills including Microsoft Office and database experience;
  • Ability to maintain regular, predictable attendance and punctuality within College guidelines.

Responsibilities include teaching in marketing or accounting in the business program designed for undergraduate students. The business program is going through growing and dynamic times and is in the process of the pursuits of specialized accreditation.

 

Requirements:
Master of Business Administration in Marketing or Accounting, or a related field in business and prior teaching in academia is required. Ph.D. or ABD is preferred. Prior Business experience and some background in marketing or accounting are desirable.

Peace College is searching for a full-time, tenure-track faculty member as an Assistant Professor in Production Operations and Finance, available for 2008-09 with a starting date of August 1, 2008.

 

Responsibilities: Responsibilities include teaching and research in production/operations management, finance, quantitative analysis, decision making, and general management in the business program designed for undergraduate students. The business program is going through growing and dynamic times and is in the process of the pursuits of specialized accreditation. The new faculty will play a very active role in seeking the accreditation. Additional responsibilities include student advising, participating in committee work, student clubs, and assist in day-to-day management of program. The teaching load is 12 credits per semester.

 

Qualifications: Ph.D. in Production/Operations or Finance, or a related field in business is required. ABD will be considered.

 

Business experience and some background in production operations management and finance are desirable.
