Peace Strengthens: They knew I had it in me.

Biology

Biology is the science that deals with the origin, history, characteristics or habits of living things. As a biology major at Peace, you’ll learn science by doing science.

"We challenge students and prepare them for graduate and professional programs by offering rigorous coursework, laboratory and research experiences," says Biology Professor Lisa Bonner. "Each semester I get an email or phone call from a former student in medical school or vet school who thanks me for holding them to a high standard, because it prepared them for their experience in those programs. Our ultimate goal is the success of our students."

In the Peace biology program, you’ll use the latest technology in your classes and build a solid foundation in the biological sciences — skills in research, laboratory techniques, technical writing, critical thinking, statistics and computation.

Our biology students have established an enviable record of success. As just one example, for four years in a row, a Peace biology student has taken first place in the Biotechnology section of the Collegiate Academy of the North Carolina Academy of Sciences annual statewide conference.

As a biology graduate, you’ll be prepared for graduate school or a professional career as a doctor, dentist, physician assistant, physical therapist, or veterinarian. Or you may decide on graduate work in biochemistry, or molecular, marine or wildlife biology. If you want to enter the workforce right after graduation, you’ll have options as a laboratory technician, a high school biology teacher, or a technical writer.
