What Can I Do With A Major In
Child Development
The Child Development major is designed for students who wish to study children (infancy through adolescence) and the major family, cultural, peer, school, and neighborhood contexts in which they live. The major is designed to provide a strong background in the social and behavioral sciences related to child development, and a focused understanding of the scientific study of children, their families, and the contexts in which they develop.
What you will gain:
- An understanding of theories and major research findings central to the field of child development
- Effective methods of advocating for children and their families.
- Conversational proficiency in Spanish
- Awareness of the ways in which social, political, and cultural trends affect children and their families
