Political Science
Some students discover a love for politics and public policy when they begin taking Political Science courses at Peace.
Kristen Durren, a 2004 graduate who is now studying at Stetson School of Law to become an attorney, was one: “When I signed up for American Government, I had no intention of studying political science any further than that and I certainly did not plan on attending law school. You have changed the way I look at the world and ... that is worth a thousand times more than anything I will ever read in a book.”
Political science touches all our lives and affect everything we do. If you’re interested in political science or how policy is made, the Political Science program at Peace — located in the heart of North Carolina’s capital city — is for you.
As a political science major, you’ll take courses in public policy, politics, economics, communication, history, and other academic disciplines. Since you’ll be studying just blocks away from local, state, and federal government offices, you’ll get to learn from and intern with policy analysts, journalists, and political leaders in the judicial, legislative, and executive branches of government. These experiences along with your coursework will prepare you for work in politics, government, law, lobbying, policy analysis, or business.
