Desiree made her journey to the United States when she was 17 years old. She finished her senior year at Apex High School and came to Peace College shortly after. She is a Biology major with minors in Chemistry and Child Development. Desiree is enjoying her academics to the fullest at Peace College. She believes all of her professors push her to excel in her course work and teach her to think critically about issues that students are faced with in today's society.

When deciding to choose Peace College to continue her education she said it could be attributed to several factors. She was most impressed with the small class sizes and the one-on-one interaction with her professors. Desiree believes she is getting so much more out of her education being at a small private college. She also knew that Peace College was the place for her from the moment she walked through Main Building, "It just felt like home to me." This was very important to Desiree considering that her roots are all the way back in Germany. She also stated that it did not take her long to adjust to the lifestyle and campus environment at Peace College, "I felt comfortable attending class here and it did not take me long to fit in with the other students"

After graduation Desiree plans to attend medical school where she will focus on pursuing her goal of becoming a doctor of Pediatrics.
