A large part of Kris's time at Peace College is devoted to academic research, which she is extremely passionate about. Over the last year Kris has been recognized for her efforts and findings in her research. In the Fall of 2007 Kris completed independent research at the Duke University Lemur Center in which she compared and contrasted the female social behavior of two lemur species, Eulemur macaco flavifrons (Blue-eyed black lemur) and Eulemur fulvus collaris (Collard brown lemur). The research continued over an eight week period between September and November of 2007. Kris later presented her research at the State of North Carolina Research and Creativity Symposium at UNC-Greensboro. The research will be presented again at the National Conference of Undergraduate Research at Salisbury University in Maryland in April 2008.
During the summer of 2007, Kris studied abroad in Yucatan, Mexico with a group of students from Peace. After graduation she plans to gain some experience by either working or volunteering for a year. Then she plans to go to graduate school to continue studying anthropology.
