Peace College celebrated its 136th Commencement on Saturday, May 10. One hundred and 26 students received bachelor's degrees in a ceremony on the College Green in front of Main Bulding.
Robert Young, founder and CEO of Lulu.com, a print-on-demand publishing company, and co-founder of the software firm Red Hat, gave the commencement address. In a light-hearted, self-deprecating talk, Young told graduates that they should follow his ABC's to success: Align your work with your interests, work at being a bit better every day and strive to improve your community.
History major Sarah Heenan gave the student address, reminiscing about her life at Peace and the strong connections she made with fellow students, faculty and staff.
The McCormick Distinguished Teaching Award was given to Associate Professor of Music Jim Smith. Board of Trustees member Susan Watkins Davis '86 was given the Volunteer Service Award.
