Why Peace
Peace College offered the first HR bachelor's degree in North Carolina starting in 1995. Led by Heather Lee, Ph.D., SPHR, and Kathy Corley, MBA, SPHR, the Peace College HR degree program was designed to parallel the Society of HR Management (SHRM) learning system, long before the SHRM curriculum initiative implemented in 2007.
Our SHRM Peace College affiliate has received national recognition for outstanding performance in the HR Games as well as Superior Merit Award recognition for many years. Peace's reputation and relationship with the HR Community in North Carolina is outstanding. In 2007, Peace hosted the State HR Games, securing a first place finish and moving on to win the regional games that year in Knoxville, TN.
Because of our excellent achievements in the HR Games, faculty and students across North Carolina recognize that Peace College is synonymous with quality in HR Education. We have fielded requests from regional professionals to offer continuing education for many years but were only able to do so on a small scale.
Through strong partnerships with the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) and Raleigh-Wake Human Resource Management Association (RWHRMA), the Peace College chapter of SHRM has received national recognition for the last eight years, most recently recognized in 2008 as the North Carolina Distinguished College Chapter, a National Superior Merit Award Winner and State of North Carolina HR Games Champions.
