Peace College hosts students from Qatar
Peace College is hosting a delegation of five female students from Qatar University through Friday, Oct. 31. The visit is part of an educational and cultural exchange partnership between Peace and Qatar University.
After arriving late Friday night (Oct. 24), the visiting students will take part in several activities on campus and in the Triangle area during the coming week. The delegation, accompanied by Peace students and faculty members, will be taken to several Triangle area sites of interest, including the N.C. State Fair, the Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit at the N.C. Museum of Natural History and the Duke Primate Center.
The visiting students will attend a variety of Peace College classes and will also make presentations to Peace audiences about their home countries. The visiting delegation is made up of students who are natives of Qatar, Sudan, Lebanon, Egypt and a Palestinian.
The visit is part of an exchange program between Peace College and Qatar University, located in the city Doha on the Persian Gulf. This is the second year of the exchange program. Ten Peace students visited Doha in May.
The exchange program represents a part of Peace College's efforts to provide multicultural experiences to its students. Peace's new program of liberal education requirements - called the Peace Passport - requires students to participate in cross-cultural experiences, such as foreign travel.
