Manning Chamber Music Concert tonight
Pianist John Noel and N.C. Symphony musicians will perform tonight in a Manning Chamber Music Concert, featuring works by Igor Stravinsky, Jean Francaix, and Maurice Ravel. The concert, which begins at 7:30 p.m., is free and open to the public. A reception in Main Parlor follows the concert. Tonight’s concert is the last of this year’s Manning Chamber Music series. Joining Noel will be musicians Rebekah Binford, David Kilbride, Sandra Schwarcz, Bonnie Thron, and Michael Czysewski.  

 

Campus Forum scheduled for Wednesday
A campus forum to hear details about the College’s budget situation will be held on Wednesday. The forum begins at 3 p.m. in Flowe 220.  

 

‘Take Back the Night’ on Tuesday
Plan to join the “Take Back the Night” observance on Tuesday at 8 p.m. in the chapel. Come for a night of awareness, support, healing and strength. Stand in solidarity with those who have experienced sexual assault. Students are invited to share their stories. After the program in the chapel we will move out to the fountain for a candlelight vigil. For more information, contact Rev. Ashley Griffith, 508-2049. 

 

Peace College Theatre presenting improv comedy
Peace College Theatre is hosting three nights of comedy Thursday through Saturday. English faculty member Wade Newhouse will lead the improv session. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. in Leggett Theatre. Tickets are $5 for Peace faculty and staff and free for students.  

 

Peace College launches YouTube channel
Peace College is on YouTube. The College has launched a YouTube channel to share videos of campus profiles, stories and events. You can see the channel at www.youtube.com/peacecollegevideo. The channel will feature profiles of faculty, students and staff and promote some of the events on campus. Suggestions for profiles and stories may be sent to Mike Hobbs, mhobbs@peace.edu.

 

SAAC Raffle Winners Announced
The Peace College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee completed the raffle portion of their service initiative in support of the American Spinal Injury Association on Friday.  This effort is part of the USA South’s SAAC Pennies for a Purpose campaign.  Each conference member school will raise money until April 10 to support a local organization of the school’s choice. Thank you to all Peace College community members who participated in the raffle! The campus effort raised $287, which goes directly to ASIA. The following winners were contacted immediately following the drawing:

Garden Club holding work day on Saturday
The Peace College Garden Club will hold a work day Saturday, April 4, beginning at 9 a.m. to plant boxwoods by the front entrance gates and just inside the gates. An additional work day will be held April 18 to plant flowers.  Faculty, staff, students and alumnae are invited to join with club members.  Contributions to help pay for the flowers and shrubs may be made to Peace College Garden Club.

 

Study Abroad Representative on Campus on Thursday
The International Studies office will host BCA study abroad representative Julie Larison here on Thursday from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.  Julie and will meet with students in Belk foyer. Please share with students who may be interested in study-abroad opportunities. 

 

Schedule a blood donation appointment for April 7
People willing to donate blood are encouraged to make an appointment for the Bloodmobile’s visit on Tuesday, April 7. The Bloodmobile will be parked near New Residence Hall and the softball field from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m.  Call (919) 508-2502 to schedule your blood donation appointment. Remember, each donation may help save up to three lives!

New federal tax tables now in effect
In conjunction with the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 legislated by Congress, we have recently completed the installation and update on the federal payroll tax tables.  As a result, most employees will notice an increase on the net amount of your payroll check.  If you are interested in further details, the tax table is available on the IRS web site under Publication 15-T.
