"myPeace" To Launch This Week
On Thursday, July 23, myPeace (http://my.peace.edu), a self-service web portal, will replace the current intranet site (http://pride.peace.edu), and become the new default home page for all campus computers.
myPeace allows anytime, anywhere access to selected information stored within the Jenzabar database. Peace students and faculty have been using some of the myPeace functionality since January of this year. Returning and 1st year students have used the myPeace portal to register for fall classes, with faculty advisors being able to pull up advisee lists on the system. When the fall semester starts next month, both faculty and students will use the LMS (learning management system) functionality of the myPeace portal as a replacement for the Blackboard online courses program. As the Admissions Office begins their recruiting cycle for the next incoming class, those prospective students will be able to complete inquiries and applications, all within the myPeace portal. Employees with budget management responsibilities can also begin tracking encumbrances and account balances via myPeace, replacing the current CampusWeb site (http://registration.peace.edu/exweb).
The forms that are currently located on the intranet site will be available on the myPeace portal. The portal features tabbed browsing for easier navigation. While the intranet site was only accessible from computers located on the campus network, the myPeace portal is accessible from any location with Internet access. As a result, a login and password is required to access the portal.
Logins and passwords will be individually distributed to you on today and Tuesday. Once you receive your login credentials be sure to test drive the site by going to http://my.peace.edu. Please report any errors with logging in back to Robert Hill in ITT (rhill@peace.edu). For questions about content or forms appearing on the respective tabs after logging in, please contact the appropriate Jenzabar Module Managers, as appropriate.
Welcome to myPeace!
Pacer Camp 2009 a Success
The Class of 2013 was welcomed to campus the past 2 weekends with Pacer Camp 2009, and our first-year summer orientation program is now complete! 141 new students and approximately 180 family members participated and attended informational sessions on various topics related to transitioning to life at Peace. The new students also went overnight to Camp Chestnut Ridge in Efland, NC with Peace staff members and 13 Orientation Leaders to participate in community building activities and learn about involvement and traditions. Thank you so much to all of the staff and faculty members who helped with the planning, presenting, and academic advising! Our new students are now one step closer to successfully transitioning to college thanks to your efforts. Below are quotes from just a few of our participants about Pacer Camp.
"Pacer Camp was an amazing experience that brings everyone together and discover why we truly chose Peace." Jessica Strother, Class of 2013
"My favorite aspect of pacer camp was getting to know my fellow classmates and my orientation leaders. I really feel like a part of Peace now." Rebekah Link, Class of 2013
"Pacer Camp was an experience that allowed me to see all Peace was going to offer me over the next four years and proved to me I had made the right decision to attend college there." Caroline Murray, Class of 2013
"Everything was great! Orientation has calmed all of my fears about my daughters transition as well as gave her the opportunity to meet so many other wonderful freshmen that will be starting this new journey with her. Thanks to all the staff and students that worked so hard to make this such a successful weekend." Terry Harris, Peace Parent
