Campus Announcements
Campus Announcements for Aug. 17, 2009
Students already arriving on campus
You may have already noticed that there a few student faces already back on campus. Approximately 65 students are arriving early. RAs and Peer Educators have already begun training and preparing for the fall. Fall athletes will soon return to get ready for their fall seasons. Several theatre students are here practicing for the fall play. The residents of Joyner House are also headed back early to begin planning service activities for the fall and to help with the service project during Pathways. Lastly, orientation leaders are moving in early to assist with Pathways. Most of the student groups who are arriving early will assist with Saturday move-in and join us for lunch on Friday after the State of the College session.
Pathways orientation begins Saturday; Move-In volunteers sought
Pathways Fall Orientation for all new students will begin with Move-In day on Saturday and end with Academic Convocation and Dinner on the Lawn on Tuesday, Aug. 25. In the Pathways schedule attached to the email announcing today’s Campus Announcements, you will notice that students will participate in programs with their Adventures class that assist with their transition to Peace and to college life.
Student Development is still seeking volunteers to assist with Move-In Day. If you would like to help with moving items to students’ rooms or directing a move in station from 8 am to 10 am or 10 am to noon this Saturday, please email Cameron Hill at clhill@peace.edu as soon as possible with your desired shift and T-shirt size. Thank you to those who have already volunteered for a shift! You will receive an email this week with further details about what you will do during Move-In Day.
Benefit enrollment information meetings tomorrow, next Monday
Faculty and staff are asked to plan on attending one of the two offered meetings this week to hear about the benefit changes that will go into effect with our 2009-2010 plan year and our new enrollment procedures. A representative from Hill, Chesson & Woody will be here from 10:30 a.m. to noon tomorrow in the chapel located on second floor Main. A second meeting will be held next Monday, beginning at 3 p.m. Several changes have been made with our plans so you will want to be present to hear how they will impact you. These changes will impact our medical, dental, life and long-term disability, plus flexible spending accounts. Please note the date change: There is NO meeting today.
Email systems get upgrade
The ITT office conducted an upgrade of Peace College’s email systems this weekend. ITT says that your email address, password, currently stored mail items and Microsoft Outlook 2007 settings should not have been affected. However, if you also access your email remotely through the web or through a mobile phone, you will need to create a new login to access your accounts. Detailed information regarding remote access to email is included in a separate email being sent again to employees this morning.
Security has moved
Please be aware that the Security Office has moved from Frazier Building to the west wing of Main. The move of Security and Office Services makes way for upcoming renovations of the offices in Frazier for a more appealing Admissions Office. The Security Office is now located in Main 107.
