Flu shot clinics scheduled for Sept. 10, Sept. 14
In an attempt to prevent influenza and influenza-like illnesses, the Peace College Wellness Center is happy to inform you that we have two regular flu clinics coming very soon to Peace College. This flu season more than ever it is important to get your regular flu shot early because we want you to begin building up antibodies in your body before the H1N1 flu vaccines roll out in mid October.
The first regular flu clinic is scheduled for Sept. 10 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Student Health Services. Blue Ridge Family Physicians is providing this clinic for all Peace College students, staff, faculty and family. The cost of the flu shot is $25.
The second regular flu clinic is scheduled for Sept. 14 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Student Health Services. At this clinic, flu shots will be provided free for those with Blue Cross, Aetna, Humana Gold and Medicare B insurance coverage. Please bring your insurance card. People without those coverages may get a flu shot at this clinic for $30. The clinic will be run on first-come, first-served basis. Health Services will work to to get you in and out as fast as possible.
How to share student announcements
If you have any announcements or events that you would like distributed by mass email to students they should go through Cameron Hill, Director of Student Engagement. There are three ways to get out information to students by email...
1. Mass email to all students: Forward text or fliers to clhill@peace.edu (preferably ONLY ONE email should go out in this format to students about a particular event or announcement)
2. "This Week at Peace" Email: EVERY FRIDAY this email is sent out to students as a compiled calendar of events to come in the week ahead. If you have an event you want to advertise please email the details of the event to clhill@peace.edu by Thursday (or send to me as far in advance as you like and I will make a note to include in the future!)
3. "Student Announcements" Email: If you have a general announcement, signups for an event, etc. they are compiled weekly in this email and sent out EVERY MONDAY to all students. Please send exact text you want in the announcement by Friday to be included in this email.
Support cross country team in season opening meet at Meredith
The Peace College Cross Country season kicks off tomorrow, Sept. 1, in a competition with our cross-town rivals over at Meredith College. This season, the cross country team boasts a roster of eight fantastic runners who would greatly appreciate your show of support as they represent our college. We hope you'll join us at 4:30 p.m. sharp at Meredith's campus which is roughly 15 minutes away from our own campus: Drive West on Peace Street (a right out of the parking lot at the front of campus) until it turns into Clark Street. Make a left on Chamberlain and a right on Hillsborough, proceeding a mile and a half to Meredith's main entrance. The field is located on the immediate right as you turn in. Please note that the event will be held between 5-5:30, allowing plenty of time for a return to evening classes or other commitments.
This season promises to be an exciting one for Cross Country and the rest of the Peace College athletics! Show your Peace pride by supporting our student athletes!Map: http://maps.yahoo.com/#mvt=m&lat=35.79084&lon=-78.6628&zoom=15&q1=15%20east%20peace%20st%2C%20raleigh%2C%20nc&q2=3800%20hillsborough%20street%2C%20raleigh%2C%20nc
