Homebuyers’ seminar on Wednesday
Are you eligible for home buyer tax credits? Find out this Wednesday at the Homebuyers Seminar. Congress approved a tax credit program for first time homebuyers as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, commonly called the "Stimulus Package." The credit is designed to motivate new buyers to get into the mortgage market during 2009. The specifics of the 2009 credit program include:
·         Amount – A first time home buyer can receive a credit equal to 10 percent of the purchase price of their new home, up to a maximum of $8,000.
·         Timing – The home must be purchased on or after January 1, 2009 and before December 1, 2009.
·         Qualification – The new home must be the homeowner's principal residence. It does not have to be a single-family home. In fact, a wide variety of housing types will qualify including condos, townhomes and manufactured housing.Time’s running out – come to the PDR at 11:45 on Wednesday, Sept. 23, to get questions answered!

Watch for Peace advertising
In the next two weeks you may hear radio commercials for our Degree Completion program.  After the success of our first cohort, we’re planning information sessions on October 8 & 13 to begin building the next cohort. If you know of people who are interested in the program, have them register for one of these info sessions on our website. Also, our fall advertising campaign to attract traditional students will kick into high gear the first of October and run until mid-November. This will include radio, television and online spots, and for the first time (thanks to a grant from a local foundation) billboards!  We’ll have two billboards in Raleigh and one on U.S. 64 near the Outer Banks. All will feature our ongoing “Peace Strengthens” campaign.
