Campus Announcements
Campus Announcements for Oct. 12, 2009
Library rededication on Thursday; parking to be tight
The Lucy Cooper Finch Library will be rededicated on Thursday, an event that will bring approximately 150 visitors to campus. The rededication ceremony will take place at 1:30 p.m. on the lawn outside the library. A reception and tours of the library will follow the ceremony. All faculty and staff and students are invited to attend. Because of the number of visitors we are expecting that day, faculty and staff are asked to park on Delway Street to make room for our guests.
The annual fall meeting of the Peace College Board of Trustees will be held on Wednesday and Thursday. Committee meetings will be held in various locations around campus. Please welcome our trustees, and extend your assistance to any trying to find their way to their meetings.
As we enter the last months of the year, the Human Resource Department reminds employees to check your tax withholding levels. As you may remember, the Making Work Pay tax credit has lowered tax withholding rates for 2009. This change could result in withholding that is less than your personal income tax liability. Individuals among the following groups should pay particular attention to their withholding:
· Pensioners
· Married couples with two incomes
· Individuals with multiple jobs
· Workers who can be claimed as dependents by other taxpayers
Employees can access the IRS Withholding Calculator to ensure enough income tax is withheld for 2009. For further information, please refer to the IRS Publication 919 (How Do I Adjust My Tax Withholding). Individuals who wish to make adjustments to their withholding may complete a Federal W-4 and return it to Lauren Holmes in the Human Resource Department.
Please remember that we cannot provide individual tax advice. Employees are encouraged to speak to their personal tax advisor for more information on how the MWPC may affect their personal tax liability.
Student Engagement is seeking faculty/staff volunteers for the following student events this semester:
