Campus Announcements for Oct. 26, 2009

Search beginning to fill new enrollment director position
With enrollment and retention remaining top priorities for all of our work this year, the College will soon move forward to hire a Director of Admissions within our Admissions Office. The goal in adding this position is to allow Dean Green to maintain the focus and momentum he needs on our (fast-moving and fast-growing) adult ed programs, without losing any ground on our undergraduate recruitment efforts. Provost Cottrell reports that the College aims to hire an experienced director who will oversee all of the operational work around undergraduate admissions. This position, along with the director of financial aid and the coordinators of adult ed, will report to Dean Green. Peace has engaged the services of Perform Higher Education to lead this search, in order to allow us to work from the deepest and most talented pool possible in the most efficient way.

Silent auction for Chordoma Foundation on Thursday
Students in Peace’s chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management are still collecting items for their annual silent auction, which will be held Thursday. Proceeds from the auction will go to the Chordoma Foundation and for SHRM scholarships. In addition to the auction, Kathy Corley will have her hair cut, with it going to Locks for Love. Pledges are being accepted, which can be made per inch. Kathy’s hair gets cut at 4 p.m. To donate items to the auction or to make a pledge on Kathy’s hair, contact Kathy in Flowe 220. See the flyer attached to the Campus Announcements email for a listing of some of the silent auction items.

Faculty, staff urged to seek H1N1 vaccinations from primary care physicians
Nurse Mari Lippig reports that she expects delays in receiving Peace’s expected doses of vaccine for the H1N1 flu virus. She is urging employees to call your own personal primary care doctor or consider going to Wake County Human Services to get your H1N1 vaccine. As of today, Wake County has no doses currently available. You may call Wake County Human Services at 250-3900 for more information. Mari reminds us that H1N1 is a preventable virus. Everyone should continue prevention practices, such as frequent hand washing, using a tissue to cover coughs and sneezes and throwing used tissues away.

William Peace gravesite restoration topic of Thursday talk
