Benefit Concert for Jason and Jessica Beyer with the William Peace University Singers

Trinity United Methodist Church

Wed Jan 30th, 2013

06:30 p.m. - 07:30 p.m.

On Wednesday evening, January 30 at 6:30 p.m., Trinity United Methodist Church (TUMC) will host a benefit concert with the William Peace University Singers for Jason and Jessica Beyer.

Since learning of the break-in, assault and shooting at the Beyer residence on January 7, TUMC and the local community have had a desire to help our neighbors in the wake of this terrible event. On January 30, our shared community of Oakwood, Mordecai and William Peace University will have an opportunity to come together to support the Beyers.

The WPU Singers (the university's a capella group) are an amazing group of students who will perform a variety of music – both sacred and secular - during the concert. The concert is free and open to the public, but seating is limited and on a first come, first serve basis. All are welcome.

During the concert, TUMC will collect a love offering for the Beyer family to help offset their medical bills. If you would like to make a contribution, please make your check payable to the JJB Medical Fund. Cash donations will also be accepted. 100% of the donations will be given to the JJB Medical Fund.

Trinity United Methodist Church is located at 824 N. Bloodworth St., Raleigh, NC at the corner of Bloodworth and Sasser, next door to the Salvation Army Community Center. The church sanctuary seats 350 people.

For more information, please contact the church office at 919-832-1390. Also, please see the following statement, released last week with the Beyer’s approval.

BEYER FAMILY RELEASE:

“As you may know, on Monday, January 7th Jason and Jessica Beyer endured a terrible event in their home in Raleigh, NC. While they slept, two armed men invaded their home with evil intentions.  In an act of incredible heroism Jason chose to confronted the invaders giving Jessica the opportunity to escape and bring help.  Having suffered a gunshot wound to the back, Jason sustained a spinal injury and is now in need of considerable rehabilitation and accommodation.  Undoubtedly, Jason's sacrifice saved both of their lives.  Jessica has been a tremendous support to Jason, but we must remember that she will also require care for her psychological and emotional wounds.  While Jason and Jessica will face ongoing challenges as the result of this unconscionable act, those of us who care for them have the power to spare them any financial hardship.  We can enhance their lives by providing support for needs such as their portion of medical costs, home renovations, and mobility among other things.  With their agreement, Cornerstone Therapeutics (Jason's employer) has established an account to receive donations which will be delivered in full to Jason and Jessica. If you would like to contribute, please send a check payable to:
