  • October 15, 2014 The Importance of Being Earnest William Peace Theatre presents Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest, directed by Amy White. Working within the social conventions of late Victorian London, The Importance of Being Earnest is a farcical comedy in which the protagonists maintain fictitious personae to escape burdensome social obligations. The play's major themes are the triviality with which it treats institutions as serious as marriage, and the resulting satire of Victorian ways. Its high farce, humor and witty dialog have helped make The Importance of Being Earnest Wilde's most enduringly popular play. Peace College Dance Company presents Spring Concert 2011

By on April 11, 2011 6:47 pm

The Peace College Dance Company will perform its 2011 Spring Concert in Leggett Theater April 14-16 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets cost $8 for the general public and $5 for students, staff, and faculty.

This year’s Spring Concert features original pieces choreographed by current students, alumnae, and faculty including two pieces presented for adjudication at the American College Dance Festival in Brittnie Rogers’ Within and Flux by Rebecca Pilkington.

Pilkington’s Flux demonstrates the struggle within a dancer’s heart and soul — the constant battle between dwelling in the past or moving forward with something new.

Trapped inside the mind of a mentally ill person, Rogers’ Within explores the struggles a person dealing with psychological issues goes through. This piece is based on Rogers’ internship experience.

The 2011 Spring Concert will also feature pieces performed and choreographed by Ayla King, Kimmie Grimes, Skei Chan, Taylor Shaw, Anne Moody, Tildsley Clifford and Beth Wright.
