  • October 20, 2014 Manning Music Series Concert: Broadway Comes to Peace William Peace University's Manning Music Series presents a FREE "Broadway Comes to Peace" Concert featuring Carolann Sanita and Lauren Kennedy, Visiting Professor of Music Theatre, to the Kenan Hall stage on Monday, October 20, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. The Manning Music Concert Series is made possible through a gift made by alumna Sara Jo Allen Manning '58 '60 and the Manning Music Series Fund. For the 2014-15 performing arts season, the Manning Series will include 5 free concerts ranging from jazz, classical and contemporary to Broadway performances. Carolann is a professional singer, actress and vocal technician/coach. She has been seen all over the United States as Marian in the first national tour of The Music Man and internationally as Maria in the European and Asian tours of West Side Story. She was was thrilled to appear as a soloist with the Naples Philharmonic Pops Orchestra for The Music of Marvin Hamlisch last April and to have had the pleasure of performing the role of Gwen in Bob Clyman’s play The Exceptionals as a part of Florida Repertory Theatre’s Play Lab Series in May. Favorite credits include High Society (Tracy Lord) at TheatreZone, Les Miserables (Cosette) at Flat Rock Playhouse, Beauty and the Beast (Belle) at Artpark,  Sweeney Todd (Johanna) and West Side Story (Maria) at Sacramento Music Circus, A Little Night Music (Anne) at South Coast Repertory,  Encore’s No, No Nanette at New York City Center, Thoroughly Modern Millie (Miss Dorothy) at The Cape Playhouse, Urinetown (Hope) at the Geva Theatre, Barnum (Jenny Lind) at Westchester Broadway, and Fiddler on the Roof (Hodel) at the Fulton Theatre. Carolann is an adjunct voice professor at Florida Gulf Coast University and currently splits her time between NYC and SWFL. Lauren is currently a visiting professor of Musical Theatre at William Peace University. As an actress she has a appeared on Broadway as Lady of the Lake in Monty Python's Spamalot, in Sunset Boulevard with Glenn Close, in Side Show as Daisy Hilton, and in Les Miserables as Fantine. Also, Cinderella at New York City Opera and Off-Broadway she starred in Vanities and Good Ol' Girls. In London: Trevor Nunn's revival of South Pacific as Nellie Forbush at The Royal National Theatre. Lauren starred opposite Val Kilmer in The Ten Commandments at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles. She starred in pre-Broadway production of Lone Star Love with Randy Quaid. Other new works and premieres: Zelda Fitzgerald in Frank Wildhorn's Waiting For The Moon (LENAPE, Barrymore Award Nom. for Best Actress), The Rhythm Club (Signature Theatre, Helen Hayes Nom. for Best Actress), White Christmas, Breakfast At Tiffany's (St. Louis MUNY), Hot Shoe Shuffle (TUTS), The Trumpet of the Swan (The Kennedy Center) and The Last Five Years (Northlight). She has also done a National Tour in Sunset Boulevard as Betty Schaeffer. Both her new album Here And Now and her debut album Lauren Kennedy Songs Of Jason Robert Brown have both received rave reviews and are available on PS Classics. Lauren is the Artistic Director at Hot Summer Night's At The Kennedy. She is most proud of her daughter Riley. Additional Manning Series concerts this year include: Monday, Nov. 24, 2014 featuring North Carolina musicians. Monday, Jan. 12, 2015 featuring North Carolina musicians. Monday, Apr. 6, 2015 featuring North Carolina musicians, alongside vocalists from the William Peace University Singers and within the Bachelor of Fine Arts major.   • October 22, 2014 Career Connections William Peace University's Office of Career Services is delighted to offer "Career Connections" -- a series of undergraduate and graduate panels -- designed to connect alumni and community mentors with WPU students. Alumni and community mentors discuss their career paths. The event also connects students with professionals for career information, networking, internship(s) and job leads. Alumni interested in volunteering to sit on a professional panel as a Career Mentor should email Barbara Efird, Director of Career Services. Peer Mentors lead activities at PacerCamp, the WPU summer orientation program for new students. Additionally, they will serve as a mentor and a role model for new students through their transition to college life
