Local Four-Year Baccalaureate University Expands Admissions Department With New Hire

RALEIGH, N.C. – William Peace University (http://www.peace.edu), a private four-year university located in downtown Raleigh, has announced that Brittany Gilliam has joined the university’s admissions department as an admissions counselor. In her role, Gilliam will be responsible for informing, recruiting and admitting students into the university and will participate in interviewing potential candidates, responding to student inquires, attending college fairs and evaluating applications for acceptance. Prior to joining William Peace University, Gilliam served as a resident advisor, counselor and graduate assistant throughout her undergraduate and graduate years. A graduate of the University of South Carolina, Gilliam earned a Bachelor of Arts in journalism and mass communications, and is working toward her Master of Education at NC State University. A member of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority, she resides in Cary, N.C.

“The William Peace University admissions department plays an essential role in our institutional makeup, and having Brittany join as an admissions counselor will further enhance the relationship we have with prospective students,” said Debra M. Townsley, Ph.D., president of William Peace University. “She has a keen understanding of the questions and concerns that students are looking to have answered, as well as what they hope to gain from their undergraduate experience. We look forward to having her on our team.”

“I am excited to help William Peace University expand its presence and relationships with current and prospective students,” said Gilliam. “I look forward to serving the incoming student body of this wonderful campus and spreading its message of the unique approach it takes to learning to prospective candidates.”

ABOUT WILLIAM PEACE UNIVERSITY:
William Peace University is located in the heart of Raleigh, North Carolina. It was founded in 1857 as Peace Institute, offering education for boys and girls in primary grades and to women from high school to college. Peace, an all women’s college, became a four-year baccalaureate college and graduated its first bachelor’s students in August of 1996. Exclusively an all-women’s institution for its first 152 years, Peace began offering coeducational evening courses through the William Peace School of Professional Studies in 2009. In 2011, Peace College transitioned to William Peace University and will begin admitting male students to its day program in fall 2012. Its mission is to prepare students for careers in the organizations of tomorrow.
