You only get one first year of college, so let’s make the best of it!
The purpose of the First Year Experience is to engage students in the academic and social communities of Peace by focusing on student success as well as best practices of effective students.
Through the First Year Experience, WPU students are immersed in the University’s rich traditions and academic programs. At the same time, you’ll meet new and exciting people and become a part of our great community through the following experiences:
- New Student Orientation
- Pathways to Peace
- First Year Seminar: FYS 100
- First Year Success Series: FYSS
- Academic Advising
- Living on Campus
- Academic Convocation
- Traditions Dinner
- Purpose at Peace
At WPU, you will become part of a rich and mentoring culture that is intentionally created —from day one. Students, via their FYS 100 Course, are paired with a Peer Mentor (upper class student) and a First Year Mentor (FYS 100 Instructor). These mentors help you navigate your first year at WPU and ensure a successful transition.

Within your first few weeks on campus, you’ll find out very quickly why students say WPU “feels like home”
