Estimated Cost of Attendance

Whether you are a first-time college student or returning to college to complete your degree, the journey to college can be overwhelming. Understanding the cost of attendance shouldn’t be.

WPU’s estimated Cost of Attendance (COA) is the total average amount it will cost you to attend WPU for the academic year. COA is based on tuition, fees, housing, food, books, transportation, and personal items for a full-time student. These expenses, along with other costs associated with your education, can be categorized between direct and indirect costs.

  • Direct Costs can be thought of as any expense that a student pays directly to WPU. For example, tuition, fees and living expenses, housing, and food (if a student lives on campus).
  • Indirect Costs are expenses not paid directly to WPU but are associated with obtaining an education. For example, transportation, supplies, food, and social activities are indirect costs. If you are an SPS student, you likely already pay these daily costs.

The cost of attendance includes the following estimated costs:

  • Tuition and books – Full-time enrollment is based on 12-18 credit hours per semester. Less than full-time enrollment is based on a cost of $1,085 per credit hour.
  • Comprehensive Fees – This fee includes the student activity fee, technology fee, go-pass program, graduation fee, and ticket bank fee (on-demand attendance at local area events). It does not include the one-time First Year Orientation or Transfer Orientation fee. This does not include the student health insurance fee. Once the student has provided adequate documentation, health insurance can be waived.
  • Living expenses (housing and food) – Based on the average cost of a common type of room and unlimited plus meal plan. Living expenses for students who live off campus or with parents are based on market analysis. Living expenses for SPS are based on market analysis and will, of course, vary by student.
  • Transportation – Projected expenses for students based on market analysis.
  • Personal Expenses – Projected expenses for students based on market analysis.
  • Loan Fees – Based on the average federal direct loan origination fee for students. Does not include the federal plus loan origination fee for parents.

* Requests for additional school-related expenses, such as childcare, purchasing a computer, or sole occupancy, are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
