Overview
As an English major at William Peace University, you will develop life and career skills by exploring the power of the written word.
Through our innovative curriculum focused on real outcomes – which is unlike any other program in the state – WPU English majors graduate with more than just an understanding and appreciation of great literature but also with skills graduate programs and employers value. Our distinguished faculty will work closely with you to become an effective writer, communicator and critical thinker by dissecting text, interpreting language and expressing ideas. Our unique four-year college writing program encompasses both creative and professional writing, including writing grants, technical documents, resumes, cover letters and other valuable applications. Flexible by design, the program allows you to shape your education by tailoring it to fit your passions and career goals. WPU English graduates have found great success after graduation, going on to prestigious graduate schools and finding positions in academia, marketing, journalism, business and more.

Careers
English majors use analytical approaches to examine language, literature, cultural studies and writing. Critical thinking and analytical skills are developed as one focuses on the comprehension and interpretation of language and expressing one’s ideas, both verbally and in written form. Graduates go on to various careers in areas such as journalism, technical writing, advertising copy writing and public relations.
