Family Weekend 2023: October 27-29, 2023

Registration for the 2023 Family Weekend is now closed.

We are excited to see all of our families!

  • If you are registered for the weekend’s events, please keep an eye out on your email for additional details.
  • Families do not need a ticket to be on campus and visit their students, but registration is required for all activities on the Family Weekend schedule except athletic events.
  • All Family Weekend events are subject to change; check this webpage for event updates. Tickets are non-refundable. Please contact pacerfamily@peace.edu with any questions.

Schedule of Events

5-6:30 p.m. — Check In

Location: Main Lawn (Rain Location: Main Lobby) 

Come check in with the Pacer Family Program Team and kickstart your Family Weekend experience. Please note that at least one representative from each family must check in to participate in Family Weekend activities.

5-7 p.m. — ODEI Family Reunion

Location: Main Lawn (Rain Location: Aux Gym)

Join ODEI for a family reunion celebrating community and multiculturalism with food, music, and activities.

7-9 p.m. — A Sweet Taste of Raleigh*

Location: Main Patio (Rain Location: Main Parlor)
Downtown Raleigh has many local bakeries and desserts. Join us for a sample of some sweet treats on Main Patio. Beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages will also be served.

7-9 p.m. — Music Bingo Night

Location: 2nd Belk
Join us for a fun and lively night of Music Bingo featuring songs throughout the decades! This will be a fun event filled with music, prizes, games, and good times. Bring your listening ear, excitement, and even your dancing shoes for a fun night with your Pacer family. Don’t miss this event sponsored by Residence Life and Housing.

8-9 a.m. — Check In

Location: Main Lawn (Rain Location: Main Lobby) 

Starting your weekend on Saturday? Check-in for the weekend. This is only required for families who did not check in on Friday.

8:30-9 a.m. — See the World: WPU International Travel

Location: Flowe 110
Join the International Studies department to learn about how your student can earn academic credit studying outside of the US. You’ll be able to learn about the trips offered, scholarship opportunities available and more. 

9-10 a.m. — Amazing Pacer Race

Location: Bingham Lawn, Aux Gym, Softball Field 

Let’s get competitive! Family teams will be formed to participate in athletic and mental challenges similar to the Amazing Race.

10-11:30 a.m. — Brunch Tailgate

Location: Main Lawn
Join the Pacer Family Program as we have brunch, play lawn games, and get hyped for the women’s volleyball game against the Greensboro College Pride. Get excited about giveaways, a photobooth, inflatables, and more.

12 p.m. — Women's Soccer Game

Location: WakeMed Soccer Park

Head out to cheer on our Pacers as they take on the Brevard College Tornados. 

12-2 p.m. — Women's Volleyball Game

Location: Hermann Athletic Center

Cheer on our Pacers as they take on the Greensboro College Pride. 

2-3 p.m. — Improvisation Workshop I*

Location: Leggett Theatre
Join English professor and theater director Wade Newhouse for an hour of funny games that teach us all how to be comfortable with being uncomfortable. This is one of two sessions; please choose one. 

2-4 p.m. — Paint and Sip*

Location: Fountain 
Paint a portrait of WPU’s iconic fountain while sipping on delicious mocktails.
*Advanced tickets are required for this event, and tickets are limited.

3 p.m. — Men's Soccer Game

Location: WakeMed Soccer Park

Head out to cheer on our Pacers as they take on the Brevard College Tornados. 

3-4 p.m. Improvisation Workshop II*

Location: Leggett Theatre
Join English professor and theater director Wade Newhouse for an hour of funny games that teach us all how to be comfortable with being uncomfortable. This is one of two sessions; please choose one. 

4-6 p.m. — Women's Volleyball Game

Location: Hermann Athletic Center

Cheer on our Pacers as they take on the Mary Baldwin University Fighting Squirrels. 

5-8 p.m. — Dinner On Your Own

Have a night out in #OurRaleigh and check out our “Where to Eat” guide for local restaurants.

8:30-10:30 p.m. — Movie on the Lawn

Location: Bingham Lawn (Rain Location: Kenan Hall)
Join the Office of Student Involvement for a Scooby-Doo (2002) showing on Bingham Lawn!  Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, or towels and enjoy a fall flick under the stars. We will have s’mores, movie candy, and a popcorn bar.

We are offering two improv workshops; please choose one.

10-11:30 a.m. — Farewell Brunch

Location: Belk Dining Hall

End the weekend with one last meal with your student and other Pacer Families.

11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. — Fall Ball Softball World Series

Location: Softball Field

WPU Softball will hold our end of Fall Ball Softball World series. There will be 3 teams competing, 3 5 inning games. Come cheer on our Pacers!
