How To Apply for Financial Aid
Follow these simple steps below!
- Start My Application to WPUKick-start the admissions process by first applying to WPU.
- Complete My FAFSABe sure to complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by February 15 for priority consideration.

- As an NC resident, you can participate in CFNC FAFSA Day
- WPU Will Evaluate Your Financial Aid EligibilityAfter completing your FAFSA, you will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) that outlines your expected family contribution (EFC). Once accepted for admissions, William Peace University will then use your SAR to determine if you are eligible for financial aid.
Please note – it can take up to 5 business days for the financial aid office to receive your information after you complete the FAFSA and at least another 5 business days to create your financial aid package.
FAQs for Financial Aid and the FAFSA
- How soon should I complete the FAFSA?You should complete the FAFSF, as soon after October 1 st as possible. It is ideal to complete the FAFSA when you apply to the institution. Remember to complete the FAFSA for the year that you plan to enroll.

- What documents / information are needed to complete the FAFSA?You will need to have the following information/documents to complete the FAFSA:
- Social Security Number (or alien registration number if you are not a US citizen)
- FSA ID
- It is BEST to use the Data Retrieval Tool (DRT) on the FAFSA if at all possible. This makes the FAFSA process simple and ensures accurate information. This links directly to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
- If you are unable to use the DRT, you should have your federal income tax returns, w-2s and other records of money earned
- Bank statements and records of investments (if applicable)
- Records of untaxed income (if applicable)

- I’ve been selected for verification. What does this mean?This means that the Federal Processor has selected your FAFSA for a review. The Office of Financial Aid will request additional information / documentation from you in order to process the verification. Please fill out the verification form in its entirety and ensure that you are providing our office with the requested documents as quickly as possible. After all proper documentation is received, please allow 6-8 weeks for processing.

Fine Print
Your financial aid award is subject to revision upon final verification of credits transferred into the program along with the number of hours enrolled and successfully completed each semester/term. Your award may be reduced based on final funding by the award agencies (NC General Assembly, US Department of Education, etc.). You are required to make consistent progress toward the completion of their degree to remain eligible for certain financial aid programs. You may also be required to submit additional documentation to verify the information completed on the FAFSA.
