#MyWPUShowcase: Students Present Research, Projects, and Performances at WPU’s 2018 Showcase
On April 10th, the campus celebrated the accomplishments of WPU students in the 14th annual Showcase. More than 200 students presented their outstanding work in art, research, internships and their contributions to the academic experience of the University.
Showcase is an annual campus-wide event that highlights the academic work done by students across every major, with over 200 students presenting in 23 different panels and performances. Classes may have been canceled for the day, but the academic rooms were brimming with students, faculty, staff and even family, who took in the symposium style presentations and lively student debates.
Showcase was concluded with the Academic Awards ceremony, where 24 of the top performing students from each major were honored. Students were selected by faculty based on the outstanding work and leadership they put forth in their respective majors. Concluding the Academic Awards, over 60 students were inducted into 5 different national honor societies in the fields of biology, business, English, and psychology.
“Our students pushed themselves to be at their absolute best with the support of our dedicated faculty.”
“Showcase exemplifies the outstanding educational experience students have at William Peace University,” said Meagan Kittle-Autry, Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs. “Our students pushed themselves to be at their absolute best with the support of our dedicated faculty.”
A special feature of Showcase is the keynote presentation during the break for lunch to celebrate the day’s festivities. This year’s Showcase keynote speaker was Becky Jacobs, CEO of Simple Change. Jacob’s speech was in theme with her company’s mission statement, to help shape the performance of groups or individuals by utilizing wellbeing as a leadership tool.
The day ended with an awards reception and an after-party hosted by the Student Government Association.
“Showcase is a true celebration of the learning and transformation that takes place at William Peace University.”
“It was such a privilege to see and hear our students in action,” Dr. Ralph said. “Showcase is a true celebration of the learning and transformation that takes place at William Peace University. And every one of our students has an outstanding faculty and dedicated staff standing with them – challenging them and supporting them on their educational and personal journeys. I was simply filled with pride for our entire University community by the events that unfolded through Showcase.”
