Raleigh and WPU Community Invited to KBS Kup on WPU Campus with 101.5 FM

Get ready for an adrenaline-fueled adventure on William Peace University’s (WPU) campus with the KBS Kup, an engaging event with MIX 101.5FM. 

Mario Kart, the famous Nintendo video game, will be brought to life by the on-air crew at 101.5FM. The team will be riding tricycles around a Mario Kart-style course set up in the WPU parking lot off 15 E Peace Street from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 30.

Kyle Smelser, host of the 101.5FM morning show, said the first event was incredibly fun. 

“Mario Kart is one of the greatest video games ever created! It’s even better when you get to be a part of it in person,” Smelser said. “Nothing like grown adults riding tricycles built for kids to compete and recapture some childhood nostalgia!” 

In April this year, Crabtree hosted the first KBS Kup. There were about 200 listeners who came to the spectate. This event had a few guest racers including personalities from 99.9 The Fan and Elizabeth Gardner from WRAL TV. Check out the recap video here.

Much like in the Mario Kart video game, there will be different elements getting in the way of the driver’s laps, including banana peels, and water balloons. Hosts of the MIX 101.5 show will be dressed up as Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach.
