WPU Softball Set For 15th Annual Grand Slam Triangle Classic
William Peace University softball is set to sponsor the largest collegiate softball tournament in the country this weekend as they will sponsor the 15th Annual Grand Slam Triangle Classic. The tournament will feature 24 teams from across the country and run from Friday, February 25th through Sunday, February 27th at the Walnut Creek Softball Complex.
The tournament is expected to have a huge economic impact on the city of Raleigh. Gate fees will be $7 for adults, $5 for seniors, and free for children 10 and under.
Head Softball Coach Charlie Dobbins stated, “What a great journey we’ve been on as the Grand Slam Triangle Classic grows within the DIII softball world. What started as a four-team single gender women’s college tournament 15 years ago has now evolved into one of the biggest college softball tournaments in the nation.
The impact is all around Raleigh, from the hotels and restaurants that will be utilized this weekend, to the local fans that will come out and watch these 24 amazing teams compete.
Special thanks to all that have helped make this possible, including the Greater Raleigh Sports Alliance, Grand Slam USA, the Crown Hotel Group, and mostly the support from William Peace University as they’ve allowed me to grow this event to what it’s become.
We hope to see you at the Walnut Creek Softball Complex this weekend!”

The Pacers will begin competition on Saturday, February 26th first facing Carnegie Mellon University at 10:00 AM before a 12:30 PM matchup against Denison University. On Sunday, February 27th, the Pacers will face Marymount University at 9:00 AM and Wesleyan College at 2:00 PM.
Come out this weekend and help cheer on our WPU Softball team!
