William Peace University Theatre Presents: The Spitfire Grill

February 7, 2020

Raleigh, NC: William Peace University Theatre Department is proud to announce their production of The Spitfire Grill.  A tale of new beginnings from tangled lives, this award-winning musical runs from February 19th-23rd in the Leggett Theatre on the university campus.

Originally produced Off-Broadway, The Spitfire Grill tells the heartwarming story of self-sufficient women finding honest and unwavering support in each other. Some of the engaging and infectious melodies, rendered by a live band onstage, include: “A Ring Around the Moon,” “Something’s Cooking,” and “Out of the Frying Pan.”

The country-folk musical theme underscores its focus on “building earnest, human connections,” says director Amy White.  “It is not focused on the unpredictable thrills of a monumental existence but instead is a study in finding joy in the simplicity of daily life.”

This production stars Sara Siwinsky as Perchance “Percy” Talbott, a recently-paroled woman building a new life for herself in a small town in Wisconsin.  She meets new best friend Shelby Thorpe, played by Alexa Parker, while working in the kitchen of the ramshackle Grill. Their stories of loss, redemption, heart and soul mesh with those of the other residents, played by Davyous Melvin, Desire Lora, Matthew Monroe, Emily Freer, and Drake Davis.
