We’ve invested in several areas across campus to enhance technology so you can succeed academically and have some fun while doing it. Get 24/7 access to state-of-the-art computer labs and collaboration spaces with the latest technology and software. 

  • Email
    All students have access to a Google-backed WPU email account that is set up through Google Apps for Education. Your email account will have all the features of a standard Google mail account – tons of virtual memory with Google Drive, fully searchable, and easily accessible.
  • Internet
    The entire William Peace University campus is equipped with high-speed WiFi and ethernet ports for wired hook-up. From residence halls to the gym, stay connected from anywhere on campus. Simply login with your student credentials.
  • Labs & Collaboration Spaces
    Computer labs are located in the first floor of Finch Library, Flowe, and Pressley academic buildings.

    Collaboration spaces, with state-of-the-art touch-screen technology and cell phone/tablet integration hook-ups, are available in the Student Hub, located on the second floor of Belk Dining Hall. Meeting spaces with technology are also available on the second floor of Finch Library.

    Specialized labs on campus are outfitted with design and media creation software, such as Adobe Master Suite, Apple Final Cut, 3ds Max and more.

  • PacerNet
    A true hub for students, PacerNet. This internal communications portal contains campus & community news, tutorial videos on how to register for classes, pay bills, etc. You can access all faculty and staff interdepartmental information such as office hours, contact information, and more.

Computer Requirements

We’ve got plenty of computer labs on campus, but it’s a good idea for you to have your own. No matter the brand you choose to purchase, here are some basic configurations you’ll probably need.

PC minimums (laptop or desktop)

  • CPU: Intel Core i5 or equivalent
  • System RAM: 4Gb
  • OS: Windows 7 or Newer
  • Network Built-in Ethernet adapter
  • Wireless: b/g/n
  • Anti-Virus software: Required (specific info contained in Admission packet)Anti-Virus software Required (specific info contained in Admission packet)
  • MS Office Version 2010 or Newer

Mac minimums (laptop or desktop)

  • CPU: Intel Core i5 or equivalent
  • System RAM: 4Gb or Greater
  • OS: OS X v 10.7 (Lion) or Newer
  • Network: Built-in Ethernet adapter
  • Wireless: b/g/n
  • Anti-Virus software: Required (specific info contained in Admission packet)
  • MS Office Version 2011 or Newer

If bringing a computer you already own, it should not be more than two years old and, at a minimum, it should have:

  • an Intel Core Duo or AMD Dual Core CPU
  • at least 3GB of RAM
  • Windows 7 or OSX 10.7 (or higher)
  • an Ethernet port and Wi-Fi
  • Anti-Virus software
  • MS Office 2010 (Office 2011 for Macs) or Newer

If you’re buying a new computer, we recommend that at a minimum it have:

  • an Intel Core i5 or equivalent CPU
  • 4GB RAM
  • an accidental damage protection warranty (for laptops only)
  • Windows 7 (Home Premium/Pro/Ultimate) or OSX 10.7 or Newer
  • an Ethernet port and Wi-Fi
  • Anti-Virus software
  • MS Office 2011 (Office 2011 for Macs) or Newer
